and we're underway here now. No changes at the break
and in reality John. Have faith ;-)
He's adapted well. Looks very comfortable on the ball as you'd imagine, and hasn't been fazed at all. He's linked up with Pieters well on this near side. A couple of attacks have started from those two
And there's the half-time break. Mark Hughes will be gutted to see us concede just before the break. We survived several attacking moves but then conceded just before the whistle. A sucker punch
1-0 to Everton, just before the break
But there's the Everton breakthrough, just when it looked like Stoke might have survived until half time. Deulofeu. Pienaar and Barry involved and the Spaniard runs on into the six yard box to fire high past the oncoming Begovic
It was Cameron with the diagonal ball to Crouch. Walters gambled on him winning it, Crouch did and played it into his path. A defender was there to stop him firing at goal first time around. He took a touch then shot. Good save
Ohh and Walters shoots at goal, saved by Howard!
In it comes, and Crouch heads it clear well
Walters booked for a sliding tackle over on the far side. Free kick to the hosts.
Cleared well by Stoke, Howard has to come rushing out of goal and he boots it high and into the stand as Walters looks to get there first
Everton almost get another huge slice of luck when a shot at Begovic is deflected. Thankfully this time it drops a few yards wide. Corner though
Lukaku and then McCarthy take the ball forward. Deulofeu gets it next on the right but fires over the far. Poor effort there, he should have crossed it
Stoke come forward in numbers, Muniesa bombing at goal to join the attack. Walters makes a bad pass though and Everton regain possession
Assaidi wins the ball back and starts a counter attack move. He looks to play a one-two with Adam, its a great through ball back for him down the left but Coleman gets across to intercept and concede the throw
A solid tackle from Charlie Adam there denies Deulofeu the time on the ball that he required. Good stuff.
Stoke haven't to contain the home side here. It's far from 100mph at us, its a slow game really, but they're inevitably going to have the lion's share of the attacking moves
The referee and Glenn Whelan have a chat whilst pointed hands at various positions on the pitch. Glenn is clearly not happy with something
Walters hacks the ball to safety after a very optimistic handball shout from the home crowd
Muniesa with the header away after a left wing cross from Baines' replacement Oviedo
First he saves Osman's attempt that was deflected by Pieters, then closes down Lukaku to thwart his effort from the rebound
Oh and a fantastic double save from Asmir!
Begovic tips another attempt from the left hand over the bar. From a tight angle that one. Stoke clear the corner.
Walters attempts to bring down a Cameron ball knocked over the top of him but his outstretched foot cannot quite reach and it falls out for an Everton goal kick
